#3 - Katie Stahl

This is a purposeful motion picture. In this pic. I was on the floor leaning against a chair. This pic. was taken using the night portrait mode, which is a slower shutter speed. The shutter speed setting is 0.5 sec.

This is the second purposeful motion pic. In this pic. I was on the floor leaning against a chair. This pic was taken using the sport mode on the camera, which is a faster shutter speed. The shutter speed setting was 1/8 sec.

This is a depth of field picture. I took this picture of the rose using the landscape mode on my camera. The back ground is clear but the rose is blurred. My f-stop setting was f/3.4. The shutter speed was 1/125 sec. I was probably a few inches (maybe 6) from the rose.

This is my second depth of field picture. I took this picture using the flower mode on my camera. So you can see the rose (and insect) well but the background is blurred. My f-stop setting is f/2.8 and the shutter speed is 1/125 sec. Again i was a few inches from the rose (probably about 6).

Katie,
Nice work with the motion pics. Shutter speed on fan picture #1 could have been slowed down some to show even more movement. Pic #2 needed to be faster than 1/8 so more of the frozen inage could be seen. Maybe 1/30 or 1/60. Pic #2 was also underexposed. Also on both pictures the ceiling beams were somewhat confusing since they were in the same location and the same color as the fan blades.
Flower pictures are good examples of DOF. Pic #2 is in crisp focus with nice coposition and color. Well done.
Keep up the good work. I look forward to seeing your final photos.
Hamilton.
